Welcome!
Hello, thanks for visiting the Pluis, McKay, Rawsthorne, & Higgins, families from the mid-west of New South Wales, Australian Genealogy. The Pluis family has ancestry that goes back to, a soldier on the First Fleet, via the Field family, some Convicts and some Free Settlers from the UK and Ireland, and other parts still being researched. The surname PLUIS is numerous in the Netherlands and DNA ethnicity indicates it has probable Germanic origins. As with many surnames introduced to the UK and later to the Colonies of NSW & Van Dieman's Land, the spelling does change on many documents, mostly due to high levels of illiteracy and pronunciation that was difficult to interpret and understand. Many previous Pluis Genealogies contain some cases of mistaken identity and misinformation that, after extensive research, is being rectified here. So if you see a connection that needs updating or think we are missing one, just drop us an email via our contact us.
